Another week of firsts for Abbey

I am so amazed with her progress!  This past week, 3rd week after surgery, she has had many more firsts.

I knew she was doing really well when we were at PetSmart and we were heading out and I was fidgeting with the bag and receipt etc.  I looked up when a woman stopped and declared “why I think you are slowing her down”.  I realized she was right, she was pulling on the leash trying to get me to move faster. I beamed with pride, I am so incredibly proud of how well she is doing.

  1. She is now going up and down the stairs without issue.  I have a video attached because for some reason this really bothered me before her surgery.  To the point that I was planning to sell my house and buy a ranch.  I couldn’t really find any videos showing tripawds on stairs.  I knew the going up would not be an issue but wasn’t sure how she would fare going down.  spoiler alert: no problem for my little girl  🙂   https://youtu.be/lcnIuYC5hn8
  2. She consistently jumps into the car, it is still to high for her to jump down.  But she gets in with great ease.   https://youtu.be/9agkTlxDeYY
  3. She consistently brings her toy to me to let me know she wants to go out and play fetch
  4. Back to the park and she was in the river for the first time.  It was really warm today and there were a few dogs going in and of course my girl went right in and had a smile on her face.  https://youtu.be/vlGZi884yYw

  1. Thank you sooooo mich for sharing these spectacular videos!!

    Huge smile making blog!!!

I love the comment the lady said at PetSmart. Perfect!!

Each video, mastering the stairs, jumping in car, taking a swim and fetching…loving it!!!

I @ove and Abbey and her sidekick both shook off the water in unison 🙂 Adorable!

This is a great way to show newbies how well tripawds can do in such a short time 🙂

Way to go Abbey!! You are a ROCK STAR!!!

    Love to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

    1. Thank you for the kind words. Her side kick is Drake. They watch out for each other 🙂 At the very end when you hear a nearby guy exclaim it was because Drakey went and laid down right in the mud. LOL, while comical it is right on par for his personality 🙂

  2. Those are great videos. They really show what a larger dog can do. And that flying leap Abbey took into the van was spectacular!

I don’t know why but I’ve always thought that amputations may be easier on cats and small dogs. I thought this because my cat was racing around the house in no time. Mind you when she fell she didn’t have far to go so she was quite fearless.

Abbey seems to have it all figured out. Good going Abbey!!

Mona is also a front-leg amputee and can leap up high but needs boxes to come down. Would it help Abbey to have a box to step down to when getting out of the van?

    1. I think she is definitely going to need a step down out of the car. After giving it thought I am thinking that I can buy a platform that plugs into the hitch. This may be just enough of a step down to get out on her own. thank you to both you and Mona for the kind thoughts. 🙂
